Eric started racing BMX bikes in the early ’80s at the Stow BMX track. He has been working on, repairing, and building bicycles his entire life. He remembers cutting grass to save up money to buy new parts to add to his race bike. Eric was part of a touring team while he served in the US Army and has owned a bike shop since 2012.
Eric has played ice hockey for the last 27 years and was part of men’s traveling team. He has completed three (3) full IRONMAN competitions with a 4th scheduled in August 2019. Each IRONMAN requires a 2.4m swim, 112m on a bicycle, and 26.2m run is completed in under 17 hours. He has run over 60 ultra-marathons, to include almost 20 100 mile trail runs, and numerous 150 mile, 100 mile, 100k and 50k races finished. In 2017, he was 1 of only 4 runners to complete the Midwest Super Slam of Ultra Running, five (5) 100 mile runs in four months!
Eric spends much of his time working with veterans introducing them to ultra-running, cycling and swimming as part of their self-help and therapy. He is an Eagle Engagement Director for Team RWB, a national organization that enriches the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Eric is a co-race director of the Eagle Up Ultra and Race Brimstone, he enjoys planning races just as much as running them. One of his greatest joys is running with his son or sitting ringside watching him play hockey. He resides in Canal Fulton, Ohio where he also serves as a city councilman.
